Ernie_Block

Ernie Block, is a Michigan folk singer with 40+ years of experience playing the mountain dulcimer, a three or four string instrument. It’s origins are in Germany and France and came to the Appalachian mountain states of Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia. Ernie has a unique method of playing a base and  regular dulcimer at the same time. A past midwest regional dulcimer champion,  Ernie enjoys performing old Irish tunes along with folk and contemporary songs.  He even throws in some intricate classical songs on this elegant string instrument.

Ernie has played many venues over the years including the Michigan Festival, St. Johns Mint Festival, Silver Bells in the City, Kelava Days Festival, Southern Michigan Dulcimer Festival, and a variety of other music events. He also enjoys performing in area restaurants, farmer’s markets, weddings, and nursing homes. Block is especially fond of entertaining elementary students and daycare children. Teaching kids and others about playing the dulcimer and it’s history is one of his many passions.

Stars from Farmer’s Alley Theater will share with us an exclusive sneak preview of their upcoming musical, Spam-A-Lot at 1:30

Opening Act Theatre Company’s directors, Jonathan and Angela Talmadge, bring you an hour of high-energy song and dance. This husband and wife team has been wowing audiences across the country from New York to California for the past 16 years. Locally, they’ve been active off stage, producing children’s theatre at Mattawan Later Elementary School, writing and performing original plays with local teens, and putting on last year’s Uncork the Arts production of Much Ado About Nothing. This year, they step onto the stage at Maple Lake Amphitheater to bring you an unforgettable afternoon as part of Uncork the Arts in Paw Paw. Don’t miss it!
